Cambodia

Cambodia is a county of 16 million, located between Thailand, Laos and Vietnam with an ocean border on the southwest  coast. It is classified as one of Asia’s poorest with a monthly income of some $290 which is what a teacher often makes. Factory workers with long, hot and dangerous jobs may make far less. The poverty and low wages can create much desperation and crime often follows.

Buddhism is its primary religion. Buckhunger has undergone many in-house Buddhist blessings and is honored to have many monks that visit and pray for us.

BUCKHUNGER is located in a very poor area of Phnom Penh and close to thousands of the less fortunate giving easy access by foot to kids and seniors that need us daily. Young children are most often alone or in small groups and only dare to venture a few blocks from their safe haven.

Our leased facility has two floors and adequate safe and sanitary housing for our staff, kitchen and dining area (now closed for use due to Covid restrictions). It is spotlessly maintained and secure.

There is no shortage here of poor neighborhoods.
